Skeletal Spectre/Voodoo Dawn/Pulverised Records/2013 CD Review

Skeletal  Spectre  are  a  band  with  members  from  both  Sweden  and  the  United  States  that  plays  a mixture  of  doom,  old  school  death  metal  and  d-beat  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Voodoo  Dawn"  which  was  released  by  Pulverised  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  playing  with  not  much  in  the  way  of  fast  drumming  or  blast  beats,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  riffs  that  combine  old  school  death  metal,  doom  and  d-beat  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  with  some  dark  sounding  melodies  being thrown  into  the  riffing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  range  from  deep  death  metal  growls  to  high  pitched  screams  as  well  as  some  samples  along  with  some  clean  singing  being  utilized  on  the  last  song,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Voodoo,  Occultism,  and  Satanism,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy,  dark,  and  professional  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Skeletal  Spectre  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  doom  and  old  school  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Voodoo  Dawn"  "Altar  Of  Damballah"  "She Wolf  of  Devil's  River"  and  "The  Flip-Side  Of  Satan".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
